ALIMERA PARTNERS WITH VISTAKON PHARMACEUTICALS TO DISTRIBUTE SOOTHE™

ATLANTA (October 20, 2004) – Alimera Sciences Inc., a dynamic ophthalmic pharmaceutical company, today announced that it has entered into a co-promotion agreement with VISTAKON Pharmaceuticals, LLC to market Soothe™, Alimera Sciences’ recently launched emollient (lubricant) dry-eye drops.

According to the agreement, beginning in November, VISTAKON Pharmaceuticals, LLC will deploy its pharmaceutical representatives to detail and sample Soothe to its existing customer base of eye-care professionals.

Soothe, the market’s first multi-dose, emollient-based artificial tear product, offers over-the-counter relief from dry eye, a condition that can be the result of the body’s inability to produce enough tears. Featuring an advanced lipid restorative, Soothe re-establishes the eye’s lipid layer to reduce tear evaporation and seal in essential moisture, giving patients up to eight hours of comfort. Estimates show that approximately 12 million Americans suffer from dry eye.
