Medidur™ Clinical Trials
The FAME (Fluocinolone Acetonide in Diabetic Macular Edema) Study is a global double-masked, randomized multi-center clinical trial that follows approximately 900 patients diagnosed with diabetic macular edema (DME) in the U.S., Canada, Europe and India for
36 months.
The trial, which began in September, 2005 is studying the safety and efficacy of the novel treatment currently
referred to as Medidur with initial
release rates of either 0.2
micrograms or 0.5 micrograms
per day of fluocinolone.
With either rate of drug delivered
to the retina per day, Medidur
releases the lowest amount of
corticosteroid currently available
for the treatment of DME.
Expectations are that the FAME Study will prove that Medidur is a safe, effective
and
convenient method for long-term, sustained delivery of pharmacotherapy for the
treatment of DME.
