Alimera Sciences is a private venture backed specialty pharmaceutical company having been founded in June 2003. Alimera's financing partners represent the top tier of biotech venture companies, who are among the most established and well financed in their fields.

Alimera has had three rounds of financing to date. A Series A financing was completed in July 2004 and raised $26.75 million from Intersouth Partners, Domain Associates, Polaris Partners and
Bank of America Ventures (now Scale Venture Partners). A Series B financing of $31.8 million
was completed in November 2005 and included the existing investors along with
Venrock Associates. A Series C financing of $30 million was completed in March 2008 with all
five investors exercising their right to participate at their full pro rata share.
