Our name, Alimera, is a loose derivation of two ancient Greek words with an intended meaning of "day of truth." It represents our approach that includes honesty, integrity, responsibility, candor and trust. We strive to be approachable. We emphasize responsiveness. We realize that there is no substitute for intelligence as we work toward discovering and delivering new products that add therapeutic value. At the same time we approach our relationships ethically, professionally and with a win-win mindset. These qualities shape the Alimera culture, to the benefit of healthcare professionals, our partners, our shareholders and most importantly to the patients who will hopefully benefit from our innovations and approach.

Alimera strategic initiative Our team has demonstrated expertise through extensive development and commercialization of ophthalmic products and our strategy behind Alimera is to:

Develop and bring to market Iluvien for the treatment of DME.
Evaluate Iluvien for other ophthalmic indications.
Pursue the development, license or acquisition of rights to potential ophthalmic drug delivery technologies and compounds.
Operate as an ethically-driven company, recognizing our responsibility to others and the importance of having a positive impact on those with whom we interact.

Our Mission

Our mission is to pursue treatments for diseases affecting the back of the eye, or retina, because these diseases are not well treated with current therapies and will affect millions of people in our aging populations. We are guided by the principles of doing the right thing while knowing the right things to do along with a win/win mindset for our interactions will prove that an ethically-driven company can greatly impact value.
